Is it too late to recap the past year?!  Of course not!  2011 will always be a moment in time and these will always be its highlights in my book.

Movies

If you haven’t seen any of these, you must!  I think everyone can like this list.

Win Win – It was a perfect year to be a north Jersey girl.  This movie with Paul Giamatti is excellent and takes place right in my new home town. You can imagine it was all the buzz around here! Gotta see this one – heartwarming, funny, real, redemptive, legit!

The King’s Speech – Colin Firth. Best Picture of the Year.  Need I say more?

Crazy, Stupid, Love – This is the only movie I have seen in theaters 3x beside ELF. Bound to be replayed in my house for all time.

Album

Florence and the Machine – Ceremonials – I cannot tell you how many times I’ve listened to this CD and still every time I hear it I fall in love.

Single

Up, Up, Up, – Givers – Got giddy every time this song hit the radio.  So much fun!  (Ended up getting to see them with a best friend in San Fran. – first concert I actually felt a bit old at!  These kids can rock!)

Book

A Million Miles in a Thousand Years – Don Miller – This book will change your life. No joke. My mom quit her job after reading it. Gotta read this! Makes you think, laugh, cry, and ask yourself “What story am I living?”  I think I may re-read it someday.

Highlights

5. Bar Sculpt – Began to teach this class this year (Not quiet Bar Method, but a derivative of it).  Not only did I begin teaching, but I now teach this at 3 different places depending on the week!  It’s a great workout.  Similar to Pilates with stretches taken from yoga.  Long lean muscles?  This is your class!

4. My Apt – Moved into my cute little apartment in May 2011 with my little kitty.  I love this spot (down the street from the other one and in walking distance from my work!).

3. Travel – I have not traveled more in my life than 2011!  It will always be memorable.  Let me see if I can remember all the places: Rehoboth Beach, DE; Fells Point, MD; New Hope, PA; San Fransisco/San Ramon, CA; Pasadena, CA; Washington, DC; Chicago, IL; Cochabamba, Bolivia; NY, NY- the people I was with and the places I saw on all of these will always be highlights in life.

2. Friends – This year I met some friends who became instant bests. I love them so dearly and believe we will always be close. You know who you are – I love you and thank God for you everyday! The moments with my friends are real winners looking back over the year.

1. Family – all the times I spent with my family in Lancaster and NJ and vacation always means the most.  Even the phone calls and letters we correspond with. Family is the best gift in life and for each person and each moment I have with them I am truly grateful.  In the highlights for family – two of my cousins got married in 2011! If we are related… I love you!

Well I must say 2011 was a great year. I learned much and experienced much. I had great community, relationships and Christian fellowship which is important in my life. As always, it was unpredictable and filled with many beautiful memories I couldn’t have planned.  I look forward to 2012 and all the excitement it has in store.

What were your highlights?

(some items that didn’t quite make the top 5 but are too good not to mention: my small group – I kinda mix that with friends so it sorta made the list!; Women’s Spring Brunch 2011 – one of my traditions;  what should’ve been my New Year’s Resolution: staying current with the news; joining twitter – ha! that’s a joke; great year at work; Chicago Conclave Session; memorable message series for me LCBC  7 series; not missing the Manheim Farmshow….and much much more.  Way to go 2011 for being awesome).
